RealMusic Events continues to advance the dance scene in Austin. Through the production of quality shows with quality artists, in particular their month-long string of events dubbed MAYhem, they are delivering top-notch artists from around the world to Austin’s top venues. Much of the talent has never been to Austin or the entire state of Texas ever before, so needless to say they are making waves in the 512. One of the next big events that they have coming up is on Sunday, May 29th, when RealMusic Events presents the world-renowned progressive house DJ Thomas Gold!

Thomas Gold is a regular at many of the world’s best venues, having circumnavigated the planet with rousing appearances throughout Asia, Australia, Europe, Middle East and North and South America. In three short years he has built an impressive (and award-winning) back catalogue. DJ Mag named him the Breakthrough DJ / Producer of 2010, and Beatport nominated him for ‘Best Progressive House artist’ in 2009. He also went won an award for ‘Best Progressive House Track’ for his remix of Delerium’s “Silence.” On top of his original solo releases, he has done remix work for some of the heaviest hitters in the global dance scene, working with names such as David Guetta, Fergie feat. LMFAO, David Tort and Paul van Dyk.

Joining in the fun at Light Bar this Sunday will be eye-catching, head-turning, jaw-dropping group of dancing vixens known as The GoGo Gadgettes. They have danced for many acclaimed artists and DJs such as The Black Eyed Peas, P. Diddy, Armin van Buuren, Benny Benassi and Rusko. Getting the party started will be local resident DJ/Producer Andrew Parsons, and the San Antonio-based DJ Shwann, who was a recent performer at Nocturnal Festival.

I’m playing 10pm-11.30pm.

——————-
Demi:
Demi has been lighting up dance floors worldwide for the better part of the last decade. Whether he’s performing at the biggest global festivals, opening up for some of the planet’s most influential DJs or headlining marathon sets deep in the caverns of the underground, or globetrotting with fellow rogue sonic warriors Omid 16B & Desyn Masiello under their SOS guise, the desire to create a positively sonic experience has kept his fire burning more than any award, nomination or adulation that has come his way over the years.

He is the man behind the infamous Deeper Substance & Substantially Deeper parties (2001-2004) that exposed his savvy work as a promoter; bringing talent from across the globe to some of London’s intimate underground venues. He’s also had much publicized performances with Danny Tenaglia in NYC, Miami and London, along with influential gigs touring with Pete Tong and performing with Laurent Garnier at Pacha, Ibiza.

Looking to further his career as a producer, Demi started Deeper Substance Records and a succession of releases between 2005-2007 caught the attention of his piers and featured on various high profile label compilations. Wary of not wanting to flood the market with ‘flavours of the month’, his studio output has been a slow and deliberate process of developing and evolving both a technique and vision of his mind and soul.

The last few years have seen Demi focus on the SOS Collective. In it’s current format consisting of Omid16B & Demi - locked tight to a positive feedback loop, their self-religion over the years has been inspiring to all, as anybody who experienced their live shows will testify. From their infamous boat parties in London & Ibiza to sellout WMC marathon sessions in Miami, along with a 3hr Essential Mix for BBC Radio 1 (a first since its inception) to add to their acclaimed triple disc opus mix for Balance on EQ Recordings in 2008. This timeless piece demonstrated musical synergy at its force, and forever etched its mark on dance music’s legacy.

Their energy-fuelled quarterly residency held at Ministry of Sound in London since 2007 inspired SOS to embark on their follow-up project which featured one mix recorded live at the venue whilst the second CD showcased brand new productions and unreleased remix material from SOS. Their sonic blueprint was previewed to the world in February 2010 on a double-CD compilation for Ministry Of Sound. The album saw critical acclaim from the music press and was named ‘Compilation of the Month’ in both DJ Magazine and Tillate. DJ magazine were to give the trio the prestigious front cover feature in their 2010 New Year issue.

At present, Demi is channeling all his love and devotion towards the original productions of a debut SOS album for a sonic assault on the masses in 2011 as well as further sonic experimentations and guilty pleasures of his own.
Sponsored and armed by industry giants such as Pioneer, Ableton, Roland and Native Instruments, expect to hear what you need, not necessarily what you expect.

Halloween Party with Omid 16B

October 29, 2010 9:00 pmtoOctober 30, 2010 4:00 am

Print

MYKE’S HAUNTED HALLOWEEN HAPPENING
TO CELEBRATE WILL”S 30TH

Get this one in the diary. We’ve got lasers, pumping sound, visuals, lights and all things spooky to make this one party you won’t forget.
Entertainment for the night consists of a selection of local DJs + special guest OMID 16B.

——
Omid16B lives for music. Cutting edge dance music is like oxygen for Omid Nourizadeh. A DJ, producer and label owner of Alola, Disclosure and SexOnWax Recordings, he’s spreading his passion worldwide.

Fans range from Sasha to Tenaglia, François K to Morales and from Digweed to Danny Howells. Equally important to Omid are his fans on the dance floor. And he turns them on with superb sets that twist and turn from sexy tribal house through to dark, emotive techno - each set morphing to bring out the best in the crowd.

Of Persian roots, Omid’s family immigrated to London when he was just one-year-old. His artistic flair and musical ear developed at an early age - as did his ambition. Influenced by Hendrix, The Cure, Depeche Mode and The Mission, he started playing the guitar at 14, learned how to play drums and bass guitar at 15 and formed his own band when he was 17. Already Omid’s tastes were becoming “more dance than rock, more loops than words, less songs more toons”.

Omid laid the foundations for his own career path and set up Alola Records in 1994. Under his ORN moniker, his stunning ‘Snow’ track was picked up by BMG Deconstruction and Omid’s production talents were snapped up by Eye Q, signing his debut album ‘Sounds From Another Room’ (1998). This album was met with critical acclaim and spawned the hit single ‘Water Ride’. Another album followed as $16 Million Dollar Man on Under The Counter before ‘How To Live 100 Years’ in 2002 on the respected Hooj Choons label and not to forget a mix compilation for his own label Alola ‘Everything all of them every year’ (2002).

The singles came thick and fast- but quality has always been the name of the game. To date, Omid has remixed great artists from The Cure, Gus Gus, Danny Howells and Halo Varga, Morel, François Kervorkian and Pete Moss. But once again it’s Omid’s skills that come to the fore.

“Some DJs and producers have their finger on the pulse - Omid16B is the pulse. Music runs through his veins.” Lesley Wright, Editor, DJmag

An organic come together of the labels SexOnWax and Deeper Substance Records means that a new name in the club scene was born: SOS (SexOnSubstance). A concept for good and quality music, together with friends Demi and Desyn Masiello they are conquering the world, starting with their London boat parties and Ibiza residencies, and not to forget their excellent 3 hour SOS - Essential Mixes on BBC radio 1.
——

So there you have it. We’ve got this world renowned DJ, one of the kings of the decks coming over to Austin to whoop it up with us for Halloween. All you have to do is turn up and enjoy the party.
